Post Does an influx of exchanges change rates?

Talking about the Olympics made me think of a question. So, obviously thousands of people, both competitors and spectators alike, will be making the trip to London for the summer games. With the large majority of these people needed to do some currency exchanging, it leads me to wonder: does an influx of exchanges affect, well, exchanges? Will rates lower or this currency or that currency become stronger or weaker?

I haven't done a lot of exchanges, so I can't claim to know how it would affect the rates that brokers offer. Supply and demand would suggest that the currency being bought into would become stronger and higher valued, though.

Yeah, but it seems like brokers would probably try to capitalize on this and increase the rates at which they offer their exchanges. Or is this where carefully selecting your broker comes in to play?
